Sharing my good days and bad days

There are only 9 more days until Christmas Day!

Yesterday we attended the 40th year of The Living Christmas Tree at Wallace Memorial Baptist Church.

The show was amazing… wonderful music, speakers, and light show.

But we came away wishing people could appreciate the simple, touching words and music of the Christmas Carols sung for so many years… are they really boring? obsolete?

Joy to The world! the Lord has come
Let earth receive her King
Let ev’ry heart prepare him room
And heaven and nature sing
And heaven and nature sing
And heaven and nature sing

Away in a manger, no crib for a bed
The little Lord Jesus lay down his sweet head
The stars in the sky looked down where he lay
The little Lord Jesus asleep on the hay

O come, all ye faithful,
Joyful and triumphant,
O come ye, O come ye to Bethlehem.
Come and behold Him,
Born the King of Angels!

O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him,
Christ the Lord.

Silent night, Holy night
All is calm, All is bright
Round yon virgin mother and child
Holy infant so tender and mild
Sleep in Heavenly peace
Sleep in Heavenly peace

Oh holy night!
The stars are brightly shining
It is the night of the dear Savior’s birth!
Long lay the world in sin and error pining
Till he appear’d and the soul felt its worth.
A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices
For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn!

Fall on your knees
Oh hear the angel voices
Oh night divine
Oh night when Christ was born
Oh night divine
Oh night divine

Merry Christmas!

  1. I love the words of those songs. They are wonderful and hold the promise and joy of our Lord. Great post, so glad you had the opportunity to see this.

    • Well, but none of the songs were the traditional Christmas songs we usually sing in church. It wasn’t really a Christmas program, as much as a “show”.

I have no plans to see it again. However, on Christmas Eve, Central Baptist Church has a service. Traditional Christmas hymns are sung and it is very inspirational. We will be going again this year.
