Sharing my good days and bad days

I’m not complaining about the weather…

weather-forecast2

This has been a very unusual year, so far.

Everyone thought we would have an early spring . . . then winter came back — again and again.

We’ve had more than our share of rain (especially in Texas)! But we’ve had lots of sunshine, too.

The most unusual weather I’ve noticed is the nice, cool mornings (and evenings). Even when the day gets hot — very hot — it’s nice and cool by the next morning.

And I can’t complain about that! I love the cool breezes…

I’m walking more, since the weather is nice and cool.

I don’t think anyone knows just what to expect, but whatever type of weather comes along, I know God is in control — and HE has a plan. The weather is just a part of His plan.

So whether it’s hot, cold, wet, dry, thunderstorms, hail, snow, fog, sleet, wind or a mix . . . it’s just what God ordered.

And I can trust that it’s just right.

I can’t do anything to change it, so I might as well enjoy it!

Blessings!

3 important things to say…

Awhile back, I read three important things to say daily to those you love…

And I’m sorry that I can’t remember where I saw them, but I jotted down a few words to remind myself to begin saying them — and of course, I haven’t remembered — until now.

3 important things to say…

  1. I love you dearly
  2. I appreciate you immensely
  3. I will pray for you — always

That’s it. Three little things to say — but, oh!

There is such power behind those three things.

The picture below is a lady dear to my heart. She left awhile back, being called home. I’ll see her again some day soon.

But in the meantime, don’t let another day go by — without saying those three things to the people you love… you never know when someone special to you will have their last day on earth. Don’t wait until they’re gone — and wish you had said things . . . say things — now.

I love you, my readers! I do appreciate you! I do pray for you! Always!

Blessings!

more changes at work…

Something unexpected happened to me today…

After totally cleaning an empty cubicle — which was filthy — I moved all my stuff into it.

Now, let me make it clear that I had permission from all the supervisors in my office. As a matter of fact, they thought it was a great idea. It was private enough for training new employees, as well as private conversations with staff or supervisors, yet near enough to be available when needed.

So I clean everything — counters, drawers, file cabinets, shelves, even the floor (we won’t go into the mess I found under the desk).

Then, a week or so after I’ve moved — and gotten settled, the director stops me in the hall to tell me to move back to my previous cubicle — effective immediately!

The reason? He thinks someone who might be hired in the near future might want to use that particular cubicle.

SO… OK. I work late, and with help, I get everything moved back.

But I’m not happy.

Once again I’m asking for your prayers…

I know I will eventually get over the idea of feeling that I’m just not important around here… about the time I retire. And I am really looking forward to that day!

Blessings!

Well, I wanted to back to GoTen…

Last January 2015, our office staff went out to celebrate a new year… and a new regional office.

GoTen in downtown Nashville was the chosen spot, so we all car-pooled over to the restaurant.

I had never, ever, experienced this sort of thing, but I went along, and decided to order something similar to what the others were ordering – since I had no idea what to expect…

I chose habachi shrimp! It came with salad, soup, fried rice and steamed vegetables.

Here is what I got…

a delicious salad…

mushroom and onion soup…

fried rice… and steamed vegetables…

and everything – everything – was fantastic!

Yesterday, our staff decided to go back, since we had all enjoyed the experience. But when we got there – it was CLOSED!

No note. No explanation. Nothing.

Just a dark restaurant with a locked door. Needless to say, we were disappointed. The closest thing nearby was a fast food burger place, and we settled for it. But we were very disappointed.

I looked online – and on their facebook page – and still can’t find anything about why it’s closed!

So I guess we won’t be going back again.

Bummer.

There’s gonna be changes at work…

Something very unusual is happening at work…

20140924-215959.jpg

For the first time, in fifteen years, there is a change in leadership — for everyone.

Our division has three regional offices, and during the past fifteen years, since I began working here, we have had one of the leaders to retire, or resign. But not all three — at the same time!

20140924-221656.jpg

Within ninety days… all three of the regional administrators left their positions. I wish them all the best… and yeah, I’m just a little envious. I wish it were my turn, but I’m counting the months and it’ll be here soon enough.

And now it’s time to post three job openings, and begin the interviews. In the meantime, we’ll keep doing what we’re doing.

Is it okay if I ask for your prayers? For those who’ve gone — and those who are left behind.

Blessings!

GoTen

Our office went out today to celebrate a new year…

GoTen in downtown Nashville was the top contender, so we all car-pooled over to the restaurant.

Now… I have never, ever, experienced this sort of thing, but I went along with everyone else.

and finally…

everything – everything – was fantastic!

I’m taking my family the first chance I get… this was one of the best restaurant experiences I’ve had… and the best food I’ve eaten when dining out!

I can’t wait to go again!

Labor Day

It seems as if I end up working harder on holidays than I do other days…

But that’s ok — I’m usually doing things for (or with) my family, so it’s worth the extra effort.

Last night I was the last one to bed… It was after 2am when I finally closed my eyes to sleep (technically I guess it was already today) but there was too much to get done and I don’t need lots of sleep anyway.

I woke at 6am, crept (quiet as a church mouse) to the kitchen, where I proceeded to prepare homemade biscuits and sausage gravy for my family.

My daughter helped me and soon we were all sitting at the table, enjoying breakfast and my day off (except my grandson – who wouldn’t eat the biscuits because I hadn’t rolled out the dough and shaped them as I usually do. He doesn’t like “dropped” biscuits).

My granddaughter doesn’t care – she loved it! She says my gravy is so good, she gives it a million thumbs up!

Now I’m hibernating, snuggling with a soft blanket, using the excuse that I have to finish Vannetta’s book so I can review it…

If I happen to fall asleep, maybe no one will notice.

… shh
