Sharing my good days and bad days

hot… cold… hot… cold…

second-guessing the weather!

Just a few weeks ago, we had a some pretty warm days…

2 days later it snowed — a lot! I’m talking 8-9 inches of snow! Enough to close the state offices, which almost never happens.

The next week, all the snow melted and the temps stayed in the 60s…

Yesterday when I left work it was 84 degrees…
this morning it was 40 degrees…

How’s a person supposed to know what to wear?

How’s a person supposed to get used to it?

Crazy? …that’s Tennessee weather.

At least the work week is half over…

God bless you!

Censorship Rant by JC Morrows

Oh wow, I have to go along with this… I love the Twilight series… and the Hunger Games series… so remind me, why is it ok for Mr. Grey to be an extremist abuser — but Edward Cullen is the bad guy… along with Gale Hawthorne and Peeta Mellark (since they do everything they can to protect Katniss Everdeen)…

JC Morrows

For years I have marveled at the nonsense of censorship… I really wish these people would get a clue.

Why is it that people will jump up and down and scream and picket about a book – a book mind you – with no pictures inside, but completely and totally ignore pictures, posters, movie covers, billboards… I could go on and on and on and on…

They are horrified that we would allow our children to read such disgusting stories but they have absolutely no problem with young children seeing a half-naked woman on a giant billboard at the side of the road.

They don’t want their children to read books which pose difficult questions but they have no problem with them walking through Wal-Mart or a video store and seeing dead people or horrific monsters splashed across the covers of nearly half the movies currently on display…

Heading towards the snow…

Heading towards the snow!

We’re getting ready to head towards Huntsville… this week they received nine inches of snow (and ice). But that’s where we’re going.

Crazy? …probably.

Scared? …definitely.

Still going? …yup.

If we make it back, I’ll let you know.

God bless you!

Nope… Nada… Not gonna happen… Never in a million years!

Despicable is what “50 Shades” is…

I’m not reading the books… and I’m not watching the movie.

Please don’t set out to watch something that could mess with your mind — pretty much for the rest of your life!

…and I’m not taking a stand because of the multiple campaigns online that stand on the same side as me; I am thrilled to see so many people out there taking a stand for what they believe in!

The following is from my wonderful daughter…

There is a massive facebook/twitter campaign going on right now – against the heinous 50 Shades… books AND movie!

I am using the campaign’s hashtag in my title above – #NoGreyNoWay. You can click on one of the links below for more info…

Please be aware that some of the posts on these sites contain graphic information – as many women and men are sharing their own personal experiences about past abuse.

Please stand with us as we spread the word to friends, family and strangers. If you truly care – you will want to do everything possible to protect others from the damaging and devastating effects of this series!

I have not – and I will not – read the book (or watch the movie)!

Exposing your mind to ANYTHING of this nature is just inviting the devil to create a foothold in your very soul – which he will then use to push more sin into your life.

Allowing this story into your head allows it into your heart, your mind, your soul!

You think you can handle it. You tell yourself that you need to be able to make an informed argument. You tell yourself that you need to have ammo to feed that argument. You tell yourself that you can’t properly argue against something you haven’t read or watched personally…

But this series is FAR TOO DANGEROUS to adhere to these rationales.

I am here today to ask you to stand with me and millions of others and put a stop to this movie right now!

We need to send a strong message to the makers of the movie. They HAVE TO KNOW we are serious!

They HAVE TO KNOW that they will not tear down strong women… men… families… marriages!

They HAVE TO KNOW that we will not lay down and let them roll right over us!

We will stand up for our daughters, our sisters, our mothers, our friends! We will not allow someone to tell us that it is OK for a man to mistreat a woman – even if she agrees to it!

An abuser is very skilled at convincing you that you asked for it, wanted it, or even enjoy it.

No one has the right to treat you like a thing!

No one has the right to treat you like trash!

No one has the right to degrade you and drag you down!

An abuser will tell you that you are not enjoying yourself because you aren’t submitting in the right way.

The greatest trick the devil ever played on women was to make them think submission equals abuse… and then to make them think that choosing to be abused is not abuse but is instead, empowerment – that it is fun, exciting, sexy…

Choosing it does not make it LOVE!

Choosing it does not make it RIGHT!

Choosing it does not make it ENJOYABLE!

It doesn’t matter if it’s consensual or not. It doesn’t matter if it’s by choice or not. It doesn’t matter if it’s “fiction” or not!

Abuse and degradation are nothing to take lightly or as something that is OK as long as we’re talking about two adults or even as long as we are talking about fiction!

It is NEVER OK – not in a fictional story, not in a movie, and certainly not in reality!

Tribute to my friend…

I met Carolyn Lewis and her husband Fred at a Shoney’s Restaurant in Knoxville in 2009… I was dating Fred’s cousin Dan at the time and we all met — unexpectedly — when Fred and Carolyn passed through Knoxville on their travels…

I know they did volunteer work, helping to build churches, but they also took time to enjoy South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, and many other states while traveling in their big motorhome.

Carolyn and I became friends, and we corresponded about many things — family, life, church, grandchildren, books, blogs, surgeries!

She has been such a huge source of encouragement to me — I hope she received as much from our friendship as I did.

After a surgery last September, she shared with me that they had found cancer. I won’t go into any other details, except to say that God called her home yesterday, January 29, 2014.

I’m going to miss her SO MUCH. But I know that I’ll see her again — a grand reunion in the sky.

Until then, I ask for your prayers…

God bless you!

snow… what snow?

Where’s the snow!

Yesterday it began to snow… some weather reports stated we were in for a blizzard! They were even calling it the blizzard of 2015!
This is what we expected…
We would have loved this…
But nope. nada. nothing.

I guess it’s just not meant to be — at least in Middle Tennessee.
God bless you!

survival of the fittest…

Everyone survived!

We’ve visited our favorite bookstores… and it’s time to head back home.

I’m not sure why it always seems much closer driving back home — it used to seem farther when we first moved away for some strange reason, but now it seems to take less and less time. The fact that we’re heading back on a Friday night — and in the past it was usually around midnight when we got home… just might have something to do with it. Tonight we made it back before 11pm.

And too often we are usually involved in one or more traffic jams — tonight it was rare to even have to cancel the cruise control but for a few, short times!

My daughter’s visit went great. She came through like a trooper.

Dr. Haws is the best dentist I’ve found in 50 years… and a great blessing to our family!

…by the way, the homemade pumpkin bread was a huge crowd pleaser!

God bless you!
